Tri again: Callaway Gardens

This weekend I will try again to complete an international distance triathlon.  This one is at Callaway Gardens.  I was supposed to do it last year but was injured.  As you know if you have been reading, I had bike problems at Luray so did not finish the Luray International.

Callaway Gardens is slightly shorter – 1,000 swim, 30k bike, 8k run.  The lake is small – similar to Lake Arrowhead – and I had my best swim time there last year in a sprint.  Of course in that one we were in such shallow water that I was pulling up sand with every stroke.  On Sunday we will be in deeper water with one circle around the lake and then swim straight across.  The bike course at Callaway Gardens is very nice.  The trails are great and it is not hilly.  The run is similar though the run for the sprint had some small hills and there was an odd place where we were funneled across a small bridge.

I am looking forward to getting away, even just for a short time.  It has been a particularly rough week (wondering if I do anything at all right?) I’ve worked hard to maintain perspective about what is really important to me and what I value, however. It’s been a battle this week.  It helps to have the support team of friends and family.  I appreciate you more than you know.
